The Problem:
TDI Technologies, Inc, a company heavily based in government contracting, wanted to redo their website with a more fresh and modern take.
The Challenge
[[Redacted]]
Kidding aside, the challenge was trying to find a way to help a website for a company that’s been largely a government contractor appeal to not just its core demographic, but also to small and medium-sized businesses in the area. The previous website was using a very complicated Content Management System (CMS) that no longer suited their needs and had started to break down.
The Solution:
Working with the key stakeholders in the company, I researched a number of competing businesses for ideas and to determine what the current industry standards were for this sort of website. I looked outside that scope and at luxury and tech websites for layout inspirations. We changed the layout from being a fairly static website to a more dynamic one with a unified color pallet. All the headers got simple video backgrounds, and I took some photos and videos of the building as well to give it a more personal touch.
I added small flourishes of additional animation to give the site an overall more interesting flow.
The CMS system was removed entirely since it wasn’t being used and most updates could be done by a single developer on an as-needed basis instead. This also made the website far more secure.
The Results:
The key stakeholders were thrilled with the website, and we saw an increase in website traffic. SEO on the website was improved and the new sitemap helped Google properly index the website.
